DESCRIPTION:We are postponing our next Urban Sketchers Zurich meetup by one week due to the cold and unpleasant weather\, moving it to the Easter weekend. Instead of the usual first Sunday of the month\, we will meet exceptionally on Saturday. The occasion is the newly opened exhibition “Glaciers & Torrents. Drawn Switzerland around 1800” at the Graphische Sammlung of ETH Zurich\, offering fascinating insights into historical landscape drawings. Sketching can take place indoors or\, if the weather is good\, outdoors\, for example on the Polyterrasse overlooking the old town. \nMeeting point: Indoors\, in front of the entrance to the exhibition at the Graphische Sammlung of ETH Zurich (Rämistrasse 101\, Zurich). \nPlease bring your own sketching materials. Elle fut bordée dès le XIV siècle de maisons patriciennes et d’immeubles marchands. Elle débute au haut de la pente avec l’Evêché et se termine en s’ouvrant sur la Place «  Nova Friburgo »\, ainsi nommée en l’honneur des centaines de Fribourgeois qui furent forcés par la disette à émigrer au Brésil pour créer la colonie Nova Friburgo dans des conditions extrêmement difficiles. DESCRIPTION:Drawing people is an important part of urban sketching and a challenge for many. That’s why we practice both quick and sketchy drawing and precise and detailed drawing of people at our meetings by sketching each other. The poses last from 2 to a maximum of 15 minutes\, as agreed in advance\, and portrait sitting is not compulsory. There are regular breaks in between to lay out the drawings and exchange ideas. Everyone is welcome\, and participation is free of charge. \nWe meet in the spacious and bright stairwell of the old embroidery factory (alte Stickerei) in Wittenbach. Sometimes a technique is specified\, but in most cases everyone can and should draw as they wish. Seating and materials (paper\, charcoal\, colored pencils\, pens\, etc.) are available\, but please bring any special materials yourself. Participation is free of charge.

SUMMARY:Sketchcrawl inside the Basel SBB train station
DESCRIPTION:We will meet from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the last time this year to sketch:\nat 2:00 p.m. inside the Basel SBB train station\, at the “meeting point” in the ticket hall  (Link) \nThere are many different motifs. For example\, on the footbridge to the left of the escalator\, there is a sheltered spot from where you can sketch passers-by or people taking a break on the seating islands\, or shops where travelers linger. The ticket hall itself is also a beautiful space with murals from the 1920s\, which can be seen clearly from the footbridge. The station is currently decorated for Christmas. Other motifs include the west wing\, the hall leading to the French station\, historically preserved rooms that are now used for retail\, and much more. \nWe will meet at 4 p.m. to view the finished drawings. We will decide where to meet on site.

DESCRIPTION:Our next meeting will take place at the C+ climbing gym in Colombier. Come on\, let’s try chasing characters hanging from their ropes! There’s also a place to sit down at the café\, where coffee drinkers are probably a little less energetic than climbers! \nMeet at 11 a.m. in front of the entrance. Admission is free for sketchers (not for climbing\, of course). \nThere is parking in front of the gym\, but it is also accessible by the coastal tram\, Colombier Les Chézards stop. \nIt’s free\, no pressure\, everyone brings their favorite materials and draws whatever inspires them\, and at the end we love to put all the creations together to admire\, share\, and immortalize with a group photo.

DESCRIPTION:Where the Sihl paper factory once stood\, Sihlcity has been created as an urban shopping and leisure district in Zurich. Parts of the industrial architecture\, brickwork\, boiler house and striking chimney have been preserved and now stand alongside steel and glass. Before Christmas\, a tree house construction will be added to the inner courtyard. Whatever the weather\, we find motifs both indoors and outdoors. On this Sunday\, when the shops are open\, the Sihlcity site is particularly lively. It’s a great opportunity to capture movement\, people and urban scenes. \nMeeting point: Outside on the plaza\, at the Vapiano entrance. \nPlease bring your own drawing materials and\, ideally\, a small folding stool. No prior experience required. We sketch for about 2 hours\, solo or in small groups. Afterwards we regroup\, share our sketches and take a group photo.
